Show MRS LANGTRY The ICeaHtlful Actress to Appear Monday Evening A genuine success was achieved last evening at the Fifth Avenue Theatre by Mrs Lan try as Lady Ormond in uA Wifes Peril II The play is an unusually good one and was acted with smoothness and finish all through When Mrs Langtry played the part at this same theatre over two years ago she gave an intelligent graceful and pleasing per sonation the great drawback being lack of experience which cramped her efforts I This condition has passed awav the fet ters which hound tbeamateur have been burst asunder and Mrs Langtry now gives scope to her intentions with I I a freedom and breadth that is enchanting She portrayed with equal skill delicacy and effect all the varying emotions of the part and in the strong scenes she displayed unlookedfor force In the third act she was so intense and acted with such power that the audience audi-ence moved by surpise and admiration I fairly rose at her Sirs Langtry now judged by histronic tests has j assed the I ordeal and stands before the world an actressone whose future is in her own hands Mr Charles Coghlan was artistic and forcible as Captain Bradford and Mr Fred Everill splendid as Dr Thornton The others in the cast were very good New York Evening News |
