Show Latin tin community helpful I to Haiti t H Hi i A 1 r i M Adriana Auriana Salazar alazar Contributing Writer You probably know the Latin community for being noisy for partying a lot and for just being large But when it comes to helping others this community is isone isone isone one of the first to offer a helping hand With the recent tragedy of an earthquake hitting Haiti the world stood still for that reason the Hispanic community helping their brothers and sisters in Haiti and make a difference for them Doesn't really matter where people are from or how much they can donate the important thing is to do something We are making a call to everybody to open their hearts and help those who has nothing left said community leader and lawyer Tony after he was asked about this idea The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter Saints are helping u us to to pay for forthe forthe forthe the shipping of donated items all we need is more donations added This is why some Salt Lake Community College students involved in the Latino Hispanic club are trying to help with this cause Vice president of the Hispanic club Bryan Armajo Annajo said Our help is not only for Hispanics but for everybody because we are a diverse club However r Latin people are not the only ones that are helping student Colby Hudson majoring in business said that he found out about this because he saw a lot of people gathering together with a lot of supplies It was interesting to see all the people there and the enthusiasm to help Thousands and thousands of people their homes their properties and even family members Help form fonn all over the world has been sent but there are still a lot lotof lotof lotof of people that clothes and food According to there has been a great response from the Latin community as well as people form all ll over Salt Lake but they need more help It doesn't matter how much you can donate the desire to help is the one that counts If you would like to get more involved or you dont don't really have anything to donate you can always volunteer to help to package the supplies We need as many volunteers as we can get specially young ones said You can drop your donations at Mexican Civic Center located at South West Clothing shoes blankets and hygiene kits are what they need the most but any type of donation will be well received Doors open Monday to Saturday from AM to PM Hope to see you there |
