| Show Havin Having Our Say at The Grand Gran Theatre LaSabra Ragsdale Ragsdale Contributing Writer It q If Take the time and dig deep inside yourself Do you have havea a hidden prejudice or a fear I of people who are not like yourself Regardless if you j i do or you dont don't Having our say the Delany sisters' sisters first firstI I 1 is a phenomenal play presented at the Grand Theater located at the South City campus The creative actresses in the play are Toni Ton Byrd who plays Sadie Delany and Rita Martin who plays Bessie Delany These two sisters are over I years i old and have faced obstacles I that we can only imagine Strong independent and well 1 educate they share with us what they have seen in there 1 years r I As the Delany's sisters welcome you in there home you will sit with them and andI I I ay ev ew listen as they paint for you youa a vivid picture of there life story and Americas America's history You will be glued to you seats You will laugh and you may cry but the emotions arc are real There are many Issues that we as a younger generation have taken for granted but yet it was a dominant part of history and shaped the road in which we travel today The sisters begin with there ancestors The Delany sisters were of Caucasian and African American descent There mother was only black and father was a very dark skin black Both parents were highly educated The ladies then go on with there tell of slavery The ending of slavery women's right to vote in 1920 Jim Crow laws and Booker T.
