Show club Salt Lake The City-The 2008 annual Foundation Conference scheduled to be held on October 19 17 at The Embassy Suites in Salt Lake City will once again present a program designed to give support and information to those who no longer consider themselves Mormon The program will feature Steven Hassan a nationally known mental health counselor He is the author of two critically acclaimed books Releasing the Bonds Empowering People to Think for Themselves 2000 and Combating Cult Mind Control The 1 Best- Best selling Guide to Protection Rescue and Recovery from Destructive Cults 1988 Steven has appeared on 60 MINUTES Dateline Oprah Winfrey and Larry King Live and often works as a consultant to law enforcement The weekend will also include several other speakers including Ken Clark former Bishop CES Instructor and Institute Director Following the formal program each evening attendees have a chance to meet and mingle with others who have come from all over the United States The conference titled I Went Vent to the Woods offers a chance for former Mormons to come together to socialize listen to informative speakers and discuss the changes in their lives since disengaging from Mormon Church membership The conference is sponsored by The Foundation a profit non-profit corporation formed to provide information and assist those adjusting to life after leaving active participation in the Mormon Church This event is expected to gamer garner gamera a large atten attendance ance of former and inactive Mormons who will spend two days discussing history humor and healing The Foundation has long expressed as one of its goals the desire for Mormons and Non- Non Mormons to live in peace in inthe inthe inthe the community and to find acceptance from family and friends for those who have left the Mormon Church The Foundation is also devoted to helping former Mormons leave behind the negative emotional issues and learn to set boundaries that will be respected and honored by family members and friends who still adhere to the tenets of the mainstream Mormon religion For more information about this years year's conference visit the Foundation Web site at nF |
