Show A two-party two system Ani Arakelian Opi Opinion ion Editor TheUS ThUS has become a two-party two system The parties have changed their names their ideals and their leaders many times tunes over history Today it is the Democrats and the Republican and while presidential candidates campaign from state to state it is rare for both parties to campaign in Utah Senator Barack D has opened a campaign office in Salt Lake City While the presence of campaign is unlikely to to change Utah's votes it is progress in Utah's politics The majority of are known to be Republican and because of that there is minimal campaigning Everyone knows where the votes are going But this has changed because Utah is taking part in Super Tuesday the presidential primary on Feb 5 The Super Tuesday primary will be held in inmany inmany inmany many western states The presidential primary is fairly new to Utah It was started i inthe election Other western states such as Wyoming started their primary at the same time but they have tried to grow to fast Wyoming held their Republican primary early this year They thought they would get the same attention as Iowa or New Hampshire The GOP was not happy with Wyoming trying to having their primary early so they took away half their vote If that were not bad enough none of the candidates took time to going to Wyoming to gain votes Just having candidates from both parties open offices here is enough in Utah right now They are starting to see that what matters in Utah Gov Jon Huntsman Jr is really who Utah has to thank He saw that other states where getting attention from the candidates because these states were holding their primaries early He also had the foresight to get other ther states tates involved so that Utah didn't sit on the back burner like Wyoming |
