W Bush Our higher education colleagues at Virginia Tech University have experienced a most shocking and tragic incident today Our sincere and heart-felt heart condolences are extended to the students fac faculty and staff of this institution and especially lly to the families of the victims Situations like this tend to focus our thoughts and attention both on the terrible loss and also on our own vulnerabilities We are deeply concerned for those among us who may have connections to any of the Virg Virginia nia Tech community or and/or who may need assistance in dealing with such a horrific and seemingly random act of violence Counselors are available through our Health and Wellness Services office and can be reached at Please know that we are watching this incident carefully to gain any information or insights which might assist us in our own campus safety initiatives I will personally work vork with the Commissioners Commissioner's Office to further efforts towards a comprehensive plan for preparedness for all USHE institutions President Cynthia Bioteau On behalf of the University of Utah community I would like to express my deep sorrow and shock at this senseless and horrific act of violence My deepest pest condolences go to the entire Virginia Tech community especially the victims and their families and friends and I have personally communicated my deepest sympathy thy to President Steger The University of Utah's Public Safety office and the administration will be closely monitoring this situation to understand better what happened to determine what we can learn from this tragic event to aid our ongoing efforts to t I.
