Show Dare to Care Help Orphans in India Scott Freeland Contributing Writer Dare to Care is putting the fun into fundraising Friday April Aril the Gateway Grand Ballroom will be home to this unique hour five-hour event Ban Bands s games prizes and more will all be oe be a part of this fundraising gala to help orphans in m India Dare to care is a nonprofit nonprofit non non- nonprofit profit organization that collects collects col col- money and distributes it to different orphanages in India said Christine Berry a volunteer for Dare to Care The Dare to Care gala is designed to give people an opportunity to have fun while contributing to a worthy worthy worthy wor wor- thy cause The event begins at pm p.m. and continues until 1 00 am a.m. featuring a variety of activities for Tor guests of all ages A gaming gam gam- gaming ing mg area will be set up where guests can win ticKets tickets tickets tick ticK- ets and redeem them for prizes donated by local cor cor- There will be a lounge with a bar serving nonalcoholic nonalcoholic nonalcoholic non non- alcoholic beverages Gift stands will be set up selling items directly from India Four different local bands will perform throughout hout the event and a DJ will host a I v 0 5 r oY M U E 3 4 V IU Q o Io I 4 U o c p. p Dare to Care is raising funds to build a child orphanage dance starting at 11 1100 00 pm p.m. This will be a big event we are expecting over 1500 college students to attend said Heather Hunsaker co- co chair of the gala All of the proceeds generated from the event will go directly to fund programs for orphans in India Hunsaker and Berry have both been to India to volunteer volunteer volun volun- volunteer teer their time with the orphans According to Dare to Care these orphans some handicapped or children children children chil chil- dren of lepers are considered considered consid consid- considered ered untouchable by many in their society Through donations they receive food medical care and education Vocational training is also available to teach the children to be self Some of the financial support even helps these children advance to college and other higher levels level of learn learn- ing Dare to Care is currently raising funds to build alOO- alOO child orphanage on 25 acres of land The plan is to teach children farming skills to help them live independently independent independent- ly and with dignity The Home for Toddlers in India is currently supported by Dare to Care They assist in in finding sponsors to help support these children ranging from two to five years old Dare to Care has also provided medicine food and simple medical treatments to six different leper colonies in the past several years There will be a small admission fee to yet get et into the Dare to Care gala gala at the Grand Ballroom All funds raised will contribute to the support of the orphans in India Berry encourages everyone to attend visit with college students from all over Utah enjoy the entertainment and help support Dare to Care in their efforts to aid the orphans in India The Grand Ballroom is located at South and West at the Gateway Mall |
