Show Lights the trees i -am, "-. i :. Staci Stephens, age 11, a resident resi-dent of West Bountiful has received re-ceived a rare and exciting opportunity oppor-tunity for a girl her age. Along with Senator Jake Garn, Staci was chosen to turn on the lights to this year's "Festival of Trees" pageant at the Salt Palace on Tuesday evening, Dec. 2. At the Festival opening Dr. Martin Palmer, Pal-mer, Staci's doctor, introduced her, after which a brief talk was given by Staci. Staci, who has cystic fibrosis, a terminal lung disease was diagnosed di-agnosed at the age of eight months. She was chosen from many other patients by Primary Children's Medical Center. Staci has been a "visitor" to the hospital a total of 35 times and is known amongst the staff and patients as a friendly, happy girl. Staci has participated in many fund raisers from her bedside while a patient at Primary. In spite of the amount of time Staci has spent in the hospital during dur-ing the past four school years, she has managed to maintain good STACI STEPHENS grades while a student at Jennie P. Stewart Elementary. Staci is in the sixth grade and is the daughter of Jim and Marilyn Stephens. She lias four brothers and two sisters. (See related story on front page of secon section.) |
