| Show A Plethora of Titillating Talents Were On Show By Shane I. I Callahan AE Editor The Salt Lake Community Colleges College's fine arts put their talents on the stage last Friday Nov 10 American Portraits and Landscapes was the name of this third annual Fall Performing Arts Showcase The performance began with the Chamber Singers and the College Chorale They sung Glory to the Lamb and In Dat Dot Great Gittin Up fir 4 p pTricia Tricia Evans playing the cello in the Chamber Ensemble performance Mornin Momin which caught the attention of all Although they began the show they also ended it with Shenandoah and the powerful God Bless America The second act of the showcase was that of the Dance Company who whirled and twirled about showing their strength and grace The Dance company also performed in the middle middle middle mid mid- dle and second to last showing their version of modern modem dance The Musical Theater department who performed a song called Broadway Broadway Broadway Broad Broad- way Baby a couple of solo soJo singers Melanie Ro Roberg berg and McCarthy McCarthy Mc Mc- Carthy added to the singing And of course what would a showcase be with out that famous Boogie Bugle Boy sung by Holly Bergen Alysa Brewer Melissa Melis Melis- sa Owens and Jennifer Wells The Chamber Ensemble did an excellent job playing the Ashokan Farewell from the PBS series The Civil War The John Dunbar Theme from Dances With Wolves and the Entertainer The other two performers were instrumental soloists Steve Pratt on the piano playing his own composition tion of Nostalgia And Kathy Altieri the other on guitar playing the Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody This bag full of tricks showed the wide range of talent that participates in this schools school's finer moments From dancing and singing to in in- in music and acting this show was very fun and entertaining for all of those who attended and also for those who performed The many different aspects that were part of this show covered most of the fine arts This type of is one that can be experienced experienced experienced ex ex- ex- ex by all and somewhat sharpens sharpens sharpens shar shar- pens the pencil to ones awareness Hats off to the people who put this together and to the performers who renewed our insight on the fine arts once again |
