Show Letters To The Editor To the Editor We live in a society with many diverse cultures and lifestyles Here at Salt Lake Community College we weare weare weare are fortunate to see and learn about many of these cultures and ways of living The grand variety of people is one of the many benefits of attending attending attending attend attend- ing this school We are able to learn much about ourselves by seeing and experiencing to some degree the lives of others With all the differences of opinion opinion opinion ion and preferences we may have it itis itis itis is vital to maintain order and protection protection protection tion for all people In order to do so our country has made laws to protect the rights of all individuals regardless regardless regard regard- I less ss of race religion gender sexual orientation age and color We all have the right to develop our personal person person- al opinions and also the right to voice those opinions in an ethical and respectful manner Salt Lake Community College abides by all State and Federal laws The College also expects students todo to todo todo do the same In order to reiterate the importance of these laws and also to tomake tomake tomake make known specific school policy Salt Lake Community College has a Student Code of Conduct This code of conduct describes and defines students student's students student's students student's stu stu- stu- stu dents dent's rights along with student poli poli- cy Due to various recent issues on campus Salt Lake Community College Student Association would like to reiterate school policy directly from the Student Code of Conduct specifically specifically specifically cally concerning student rights pertaining pertaining pertaining per per- to discrimination Rights and freedoms are best preserved i in a community whose members are mutually tolerant of the exercise of rights and freedoms and whose members are free from phys phys- ical violence force abuse and threat 2 The following are some of the standards policies and procedures that Salt Lake Community College uses to govern the responsibilities and beh behavior vior its it's members Salt Lake Community College an
