| Show J il By Andy Crow Sports Editor In In the world of couch potato sports fanatics here comes one of the most outrageous complaints of f fall all time Why do we always have to see the same old teams over and over again on TV In football its it's always either the Broncos or the If you dont don't believe me just watch every Sunday 4 and you'll see In basketball you take your pick I from three different teams Thanks for the variety I was getting a little tired of the monotony of the NFL FL I guarantee you'll be entertained entertained enter enter- tamed every Sunday to a game with either the Chicago Bulls Los Angeles Lakers or New York Why the I really cant can't explain it except either America likes to watch crappy basketball at its finest or New York york is only the biggest TV market in the world ratu ratI rat rat- I I u u ings are king in show biz I can understand the Lakers and b the Bulls getting a lot of air time but they arent aren't the only teams in the that have a legitimate shot at atthe atthe atthe the title this year I was quite surprised and ecstatic to find out that the Bulls weren't going to be televised this past weekend weekend weekend week week- end for the first time in I dont don't know how long But those networks never point Instead of seeing the Bulls the country was able to sit through a two and a half hour bore fest what is better known as the Lakers- Lakers Lakers match up The league needs to liven up its image a little bit Its It's ridden the coattails coattails coattails coat- coat tails of Michael Jordan and the Bulls long enough What about the New Jersey Nets and rising stars like Kerry Kittles KittIes local hero Keith Van Horn and the alien look alike from the he X Files' Sam Cassell What about those red-hot red Indiana Pacers with flashy trash-talking trash from Reggie Miller and the obvious coaching genius that is Larry Legend What about the San Antonio Spurs and the best young talent to come into the since David Robinson No not Shawn Bradley in Tim Duncan What about the youthful energy and talent of those Minnesota And what about probably the most exciting team in the The Phoenix Suns I dont don't know if I have honestly seen them on TV yet this season When the small ball lineup of Jason Kidd Kevin Johnson Rex Chapman and Steve Nash is healthy and hitting on all cylinders they're probably the most dangerous team in inthe inthe inthe the league in terms of firepower and quickness I was happy to see the Jazz on Sunday battling the Rockets It showed me that the networks actually actual actual- ly are thinking of th the fans and trying to show America one of the best teams the has to offer in the Jazz Maybe Im I'm Ima a little bias but I sure am glad I live in Salt Lake for forthe forthe forthe the Jazz rather than living in Denver having to cheer for the Nuggets The Seattle Supersonics have the best record in the and I think 1 I saw them play once on one of the Sunday broadcasts and that was just because they were playing the Bulls I think If fans were wen able to see more ol of these higher quality teams I think the ratings would go up and they the networks would know they are putting out a quality product for everyone to watch |
