| Show Wants to know I What's wrong with this country Dear Editor What's wrong with this country Many Americans might ask this same question concerning the right to burn the flag Recently the Supreme Court legalized this unpopular ac ac- ac- ac tion There is some inconsistency with the action of burning the flag The individual wants the system to work for him both ways He wants to have the right to express his opinions by setting the flag afire If that is so why not burn something else But he prefers to burn the flag because it will work as a statement statement statement state state- ment that something is bad or wrong with the system I think he has no basis to expect protection of self-expression self from a system that he rejects The flag-burner flag or anyone who exercises the right of self ex should put their action to a reasonable use For instance instance instance in in- stance yelling fire in theatres shouting during a speech or fornicating under the Lincoln Monument are cases that so offensive that they are not acceptable These auditory and visual spaces are part of the public commons and are inviolate that which the flag represents is a similar thing to most citizens Signed Hai Tang |
