T Callicott Shirley Goodman Contributing Writers A J partnership between T and Union Pacific Railroad to build a multimillion multimillion multimillion multi mil lion dollar science bull building ing at atthe atthe the Redwood Road Campus is still on the drawing board The 15 million building would be shared by and Union Pacific in two ways First the square squar feet of space would be used by byboth byboth both parties The cost would also be shared Of the 15 million t total tal cost Union Pacific Is willing to finance roughly 5 million with the remaining 10 million hopefully being picked up by bythe bythe bythe the State of Utah But getting the money from the state I is th the only step remaining The partnership according to Jay Williams director of the Public Information Office Office Office Of Of- fice is an agreement in principle principle principle prin prin- ciple only only meaning meaning the money to finance the states state's portion of the cost still needs to pass the legislature The proposal has already passed the Board of Regents Williams mentioned that if there are other agencies which feel their programs will be delayed as a result of the new science buildings building's s cost they will lobby against it in the legislature And if the funding falls through said Williams t there is no Building According to statistics from the last seven years the buildIng building building build build- ing is much needed by the college Since the 86 1985 school year there has been an increase of just under full time eq equivalents FIE Fm or full time students enrolled within the Life Science Department alone That's not mentioning the increase of in the Physical Science Department With the new building both departments will have more room There will be chemistry and biology labs said Williams that will help accommodate the growth Pres Frank W.
