Show Freedom foremost issue Jonathan D D. D Kline Contributing Writer Recently I attended a debate sponsored by the Inner-direct Inner Sect which addressed the issue of whether or not the United States should be in the Persian Gulf Panels in favor of and opposing US U.S. military action presented issues that caused at times a somewhat heated atmosphere Whether we the United States should be in the Persian Gulf is not quite as simplistic as it may sound There are issues at hand that should weigh heavily on each and every American citizen Number one and foremost is freedom Americans should be grateful to be able to live in a land that offers them freedom to live worship vote and otherwise raise their families in an atmosphere free of constant government intervention and oppression As I listened listened listened lis lis- intently to the comments being made by those in attendance I became increasingly aware h it itis itis 1 that many people take freedom for that granted is a right rather than a privilege something that belongs to them without taking any of the responsibilities responsibilities responsibilities associated with that privilege I believe that freedom was never free that it was paid for by our brothers sisters fathers and mothers who served faithfully for something they believed in We have a responsibility to those who died to 4 protect our freedom as well as to our children to provide for them a land in which they can live without oppression or fear y l lI 1 I 1 J i kt 11 a |
