Show Intercollegiate SPORTS EDITORS NOTE By LARRY ROPER I noticed that both Provo and CEU had some very admirable qualities in the atmosphere they created for their games One is the publications involved in their scheduling of games That being programs and posters giving details of upcoming games times places etc Also impressing me were the cheerleaders and fans who attended the games Their support give to the teams created a most desirable situation to play in Intercollegiate Athletics is indeed a worthwhile consideration for our school I feel that would benefit in several areas One being the attitude of the public concerning our school image Friends of the community refer to the college as Utah Tech or Trade Tech Sure we wre once known by that name but as an intercollegiate competition school we become classified with other well known colleges and in turn we become a ac c college Thus our name would be honored as UTAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE Another area created by a new athletic program would be the formation of special groups or support committees at our campus Such groups might be Cheerleaders a Bruin Pep Band and maybe mayce an exclusive Sports Scheduling Counsel These opportunities would provide students the chance to get involved in more ways than just being athletes and help promote the schools school's prestige among the members of the community |
