G S Smart mart the State Legislature received information dealing with educational educational educational Two vo years ago N merit systems and nd asked all public schools and institutions for higher x education in the state to implement me merit t and professorial ranking into their educational programs stated Ann Erickson Dean of General Education and Vi Vilf Te Technology lf t f Dr Max Max Lowe Lowe Vice President of Instruction tru ti n. n at rr ch formed a committee ti A to meet and nd discuss proposed plans ThIS committee included Dr Max MaxLowe MaxLowe MaxLowe Lowe Ann Erickson and 14 other faculty members selected by the Classroom Teachers Association The goal was to develop a merit and professorial ranking plan that would best benefit the faculty at All criteria in the proposal were determined by the committee After a year of extensive study a proposal was developed which included three phases 1 Professional ranking 2 Movement within ranks and 3 Merit The committee determined that the professorial ranking would categorize each instructor into one of four categories the first category being Instructor second Assistant Professor third Associate Professor and fourth Full professor Erickson said Each category could be reached by any teacher upon the completion of certain requirements These ranks could be reached dependent on whether the instructor teaches a Vocational-Technical Vocational course or an Academic course Erickson said The movement within ranks is the second phase of the proposal and includes the measurement of minimum teaching requirements When the requirements have been met the instructor would qualify for advancement to a higher wage bracket The third and final phase of the proposed merit and professorial ranking plan is the merit area This voluntary phase would allow instructors to develop a goal or plan for meritorious activities Erickson said Such a goal or plan would consist of activities which would lead to excellence in inthe inthe inthe the classroom Dr Max lax Lowe stated If at the end of the year the instructor achieved and reached all of their goals such an achievement would qualify the instructor for a time one-time merit bonus Erickson said This plan stated Erickson will help improve our already highly competent faculty |
