Show Institutional Council Meets by Linda Strasburg Vice Pres Prey Publications The Utah Technical College Institutional Council held its monthly meeting this October in the Presidents President's room President Carnahan opened the meeting with the Presidents President's message He expressed his optimism by announcing announcing announcing ing that the enrollment at was up considerably since last year This is impressive since many other colleges are experiencing less enrollment Carnahan revealed This was the highest percent increase of students in history Carnahan related that maintaining quality while experiencing an enrollment increase is UT hs h's major challenge The College in a measure to respond to this situation is looking for other locations throughout the valley to lease This idea follows the successful concept of the Sandy Campus Carnal Carnahan an added that has also experienced the largest faculty increase this year Fourteen new teachers have been hired The caliber of our new faculty is very impressive and the people that made the new faculty selections have done an excellent job Carnahan stated Carnahan went on to include that the State of Utah has encouraged development development development develop develop- ment of a Vocational Master plan on October 9 the Board of Regents approved this measure The master plan hopes to clarify areas of responsibility responsibility responsibility for education Carnahan sees as having the primary responsibility responsibility responsibility of meeting college level vocational requirements for vocational education On December 17 a conference will beheld beheld be beheld held on campus to express feelings on the Vocational Master Plan In other business the Council expressed concern and support for the new third floor on the College Center |
