Show I PHOTO LAB SINK FLOODS TECH BUILDING Rags in Drain and Taps on Full Result in Extensive r Damage on Floor f by Ed Lile Editor y Jer J A s up stopped sink drain with taps running full in the Tech Building i photo lab on the third floor caused extensive water damage to rooms on the f second floor Students of the Wednesday evening photo class were not aware that a towel towel to towel to- to t wel and a cleaning cloth had been left in the sink and that the water had hadt been left running They said that it was a habit of one student to allow water wa- wa water water ter to build up in the sink for the purpose of rinsing hands but care would be taken to remove the rag barrier Water had run throughout the night unnoticed Kelly Weldon of the Media Medi Center said that when that when it was noticed that there was was a flooding condition he went down downto to the television studio control room and saw that equipment was soaked and water was running down through the ceiling tile Water had made the tle carpeting a soggy mess Facilities Facilities Facilities Fa Fa- Coordinator Gene Overson was notified and maintenance personnel converged on the offices west of the television studio to begin a clean Weldon and the TV production students had to remove all equipment cabinets c cables bles and carpeting from the TV control room Maintenance personnel personnel personnel per per- were busy in the instructors instructor's offices and the business department offices offices offices of of- removing furniture fu and cabinets in order to take the carpeting up It was like walking on sponge Overson said that a damage assessment assessment- would be made for insurance- insurance this this wo would ld take several days Several questions will remain unanswered for the time being Wh What t really in the Photo Lab that would cause the taps to be open without anyone having heard the watering running Why were the rags still in the sink Why was this not not noticed ced by the Tech i Building g custodian during the night Had it not been for the quick response of Overson and his maintenance personnel along with Weldon and the the TV TV production class there would have been more damage v. v Y j e. e 7 f. f ro- ro a 11 i j c V.
