Show J f. f Hitoi I J MI Y How to Become a Departmental Senator by Wesley Long Journalism I It t was decided at a special meeting of the student senate on April 22 that spring general elections will also include include include in in- clude departmental senators Besides the four senator-at-large senator positions senators will be elected from the following departments Accounting Accounting Accounting Account Account- ing technology Automotive Automotive Automotive Auto Auto- motive Building construction Business management Commercial art Data processing Electronics General education tion Health occupations occupations occupations Office administration and Skills center Up until now the departmental senator elections were held during fall quarter The change was made so that the senate could be in full working working working work work- ing order by the start of fall quarter next year When the elections are held during the fall the school year is usually well under way before the new senate is functioning properly Changing the elections to spring will give the senators the entire summer to prepare for the coming year senators decided There are no prerequisites to become become become be be- come departmental senator Once elected though the senator must maintain at least a 20 grade point average to retain the position Any person interested in becoming a senator for their department should pick up an application at the student- student body office in the College Center and tu turn n it in by Friday May 6 at noon The rest of the elections will be conducted as previously years |
