Show 4 9 4 4 4 53 Rita Rodi Instructor From Holland by Laura Garon Its It's a rare breed of teachers who find teaching and the interaction with students a rewarding experience Rita Rodi happens to be one of these teachers Pleasant and spoken soft-spoken she candidly admits that she likes a challenge and gets bored doing the same thing Rodi is originally from Holland but states that she does not miss the Netherlands and considers herself to be All She has lived in the United States since 1965 and began her teaching career in 1964 while she was residing in Canada Rodis Rodi's education was not to tobe tobe tobe be a teacher In fact she worked for a company for ten years five of which she was an executive secretary and another five as an office manager She also worked as s a secretary for a hospital pital in Ontario RODI FIRST STARTED INSTRUCTING AT UTAH TECH IN 1966 SHE LATER WAS APPOINTED DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS A POSITION SHE HELD FOR THREE YEARS SHE RETURNED TO INSTRUCTING AGAIN AGAIr LAST FALL She has a BA degree in Office Administration and a Masters Master's degree in Business Education She currently is teaching Data Processing and Previously she had strictly taught business classes but found Data Processing so interesting that she requested a position in that depart depart- ment Rodi tells an amusing story about how she became interested in DP Her son was working on a computer science degree and her husband was equally interested in computers so the topic at the dinner table always seemed to revolve around the subject of computers leaving her out of the conversation Rodi determined not to take this lying down got into com com- For the time being she plans on continuing to teach and says that she is much happier teaching The majority majority majority major major- ity of the time it is a experience exper exper- ince lence- lence expresses Rodi Rodl she truly enjoys the interaction with her stu stu- stu- stu dents |
