Show Alumni Follow Follow- Up by Amir Azizi AziziA A new program slated to have fe feedback on future college college college col col- col- col lege changes has begun on the campus A college A wide alumni up follow-up has been in functional use since the beginning of the fall quarter Robert Beebe Assistant Vice President Dr of Instruction tion has been in charge of organizing a functional al system in which direct student feedback could be used to slate changes in school improvements This is a first for the college and as a pilot program no immediate results are available But ac according to Beebe there are limitless opportunities that can cari can be satisfied through the follow up This i is a very important step for the Utah Technical College said Beebe For the first time the college is responsive to feedback from students Before the up follow-up was available nearly t all II student feedback was strictly small and without numbers umbers The feedback is designed to tally up que questionnaire responses into useful data The data then can be used as effective information when deciding where school tiang should take place A questionnaire is sent to every student w who o attended the college during the spring quarter but f failed jed to register for the following all quarter Then the students are divided into two returning non-returning students and graduates Different questionnaires are sent out to the two groups and are returned into the same groups The questionnaire is completely anonymous and it is not required to be filled out But there are incentives for completing the forms There is no charge for mailing In cooperation with AI Al Richardson director of food services there is a coupon inside every envelope entitling the holder to a discount at the buffet held in the Copper Room every Saturday night Apart from needing students names for mailing we dont don't even know who sent up back questionnaires said Beebe Im sure the students realize the importance of the questionnaire and will be glad to help us out The questionnaire was devised by a national service begun in Texas and is being used nation wide The questions questions ques- ques ques questions are all r relevant levant to the changes needed in jn the school system and how effective the college was in helping the student through courses Apart from using the data to substantiate changes in school policies and improvements it can als also become t a method of of determining how certain programs are being utilized Other reasons for needing a central feedback system are that certain organizations require constant date on the schools school's progress in dealing with student needs The State Board of Vocational Education The Vocational Education Data System The Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and the Board of Regents are all programs which need data that the feedback system can gather This system will better the school while satisfying the students need for feedback said Beebe This is the only process available where students have a direct in changes in the college system |
