Show from our files FROM THE FILES OF THE RECORD taken from the issue of march 29 1934 of the san juan record and reprinted for the people who like to 1 look jok into the past of san juan county 1934 going over the main road between monticello and blanding and in company with engineer battey the record asked many questions among them what will you do in devils canyon the answer is very little as now included in the contract and therefore the same curve the same old drop that hole in the road will be there after the job is done however there is reason to believe that if state officials would visit this section of the road now they would make special arrangements to have this bad place and one or two more nearly as bad removed that is cuts made and gorges filled up one report is that the bridge at moab will soon be replaced and then part of it will be used to span devils canyon but that means many months if not next year and then it will have to be marked narrow bridge this county needs aggressive action NOW 1934 several gypsies a car full passed through town yesterday on their way to moab and salt lake city we dont know how many fortunes were told but they tried to tell some in this town 1934 C E black has purchased the frank redd home in the southeast part of town and this week moved from main street to the new home C E is shearing sheep and mrs black is doing some early gardening and operating the barber shop in the evening 1934 1 relief conferences at lasal sunday noon and at moab in the evening were attended by president W 11 redd and marion G nielson and M P nielson the latter two representing the stake board of the organization mrs C A black of monticello attended the conference at blanding the same day |
