Show refuses new hearing on phone rates SALT LAKE CITY the utah public service commission last thursday refused to set a hearing on a complaint of the mountain states telephone and telegraph co this action stopped kempor harily rily the companas comp anys third attempt in recent months to obtain rate increases the commission based its refusal on two grounds first that sufficient time had not elapsed since the last refusal to obtain additional data on revenue now being collected by the company by exi rates and second because the company has not had time tim to remedy certain service difficulties complained ol of the the commission is of the opinion that a minimum of six months actual operating experience in in the current calendar year should be available for consideration by the commission rather than only two months now nov available the P S C letter to the company stated the letter points out that the company may abeal to the state Sum prema preme court to review the record and the order of april 10 which first denied the rate increase rease in that order the held that the proposed rate increases were unrealistic and unreasonable it also ruled that until satisfactory is progress has been made in service betterments the company was not entitled to a rate increase |
