Show final report of san juan county mobilization on the family farm policy review I 1 general statement on august the san juan county mobilization committee met lor for the purpose of organizing committees to study and report on the various agencies of the department part ment of agriculture in accordance with with anstr instructions actions received from the secretary committeemen commit temen were chosen who would represent all of the group having an interest in agriculture with in this county eight cominA committees tees were chosen each committee having an average of five members it is felt that the forty people selected represent a good cross see section of the thinking in the country the mobilization committee feels that there has not been sufficient time allowed for the committees to too malce a very comprehensive study of the problems involved and that the time of year has been a contributing factor towards making it difficult for the committeemen to meet and consider these problems in lasting the sele selected doted com mitte emens recommendations we have ad herred as nearly as possible to the actual comments nade made in the various meetings conducted in this survey we have also added comment by the mobilization committee where comment was deemed advisable it seemed to be a general opinion among all the groups that consolidation of overlapping agencies should be effected as soon as possible A general committee meeting was held august at which a majority of the committeemen were in in attendance and discussion was held concerning the purpose ot of the review and definite I 1 plans of organization were made toy by the individual committees A public meeting was held october at which all of the committees gave their reports and discussion was conducted concerning them the con census of opinion was that the recommendations ions from the various corn comments ments by the agriculture mobilization committee should be made separately some of the committees contacted other interested groups in arriving at their opinions other committeemen felt reluctant to make make recommendations due to the tact fact that harvest time work prevented adequate study ot of the agencies assigned to them recommendations for tho the agricultural research administration tra tion 1 I more research should be carried on in the san juan basin by a competent research man especially needed by the family size farm farin is research on cut worm control and the wheat mite II 11 that research information be written in language that a farmer can understand also that information concerning tain areas and problems be tr tran emitted faster and to the point so that farmers can take advantage of it to bo be continued next week |
