Show monticello residents in accident near moab one fatally injured this community was shocked and saddened to lo hear of oc the ter as accident which took the life of aurelia barber one of our most prominent citizens on wednesday hight about p m the avreck areck occurred about 20 miles north of moab on highway mr and mrs myron barber were returning to their home in monticello from salt salt lake city where the they had been to attend the funeral of roy harris salt lake who was the father of a daughter in law mrs dean barber the barbers were bringing deans little son craig home with them for a 2 visit and he was asleep in the back seat scat of the car mr barber was driving mrs barbet barbel was sitting beside her husband in the front seat and was also asleep they were driving at a speed of about 50 miles per hour there were two trucks stopped on the road at a distance of about 50 beards apart the first was headed north and had left the head lights on the second which was stalled had pulled olf off the road at an angle leaving the back end of the rack pio protruding a little onto ont 0 the hiway and had left the clearance lights on but had not set out any flares mr barber seeing the lights of the first truck sup posed he was meeting an doncom ing car dimmed his lights and pulled over to the out side of the road to pass in the glare of I 1 the lights hs he did not net see the see sec ond tack ciuck at all ind and drove right into it from behind about two thirds the width of his car top was cut off completely the car rolled some distance off the road before stopping but did not tip over mrs barber was killed instantly mr barber and the child were tn uninjured injured except for shock one of the truck drivers went into crescent junction and notified the high way patrolman at moab of the accident while they were waiting tor for the patrol aan to arrive silas batton barton and stephen eager stopped they on their way to salt lake and mr barber sent the little boy back to his mother with them after arriving in monticello he telephoned to salt lake and found that they had arrived there safely aurelia walker was born in syracuse davis county utah feb 22 1898 1896 her parents were biank L and evelyn walker she lived at garland utah until she was 13 years old when her father died and she moved back to syracuse where she liv ed until she married myron barber nov 29 1916 in the salt lake temple she is survived by her husband and six sons dean a radar instructor in the marine chips who is stationed in memphis tenn jihn also in the service and stationed at fort benning georgia frank robert a student at UCLA california richard who lives in rv Ka utah glen lives in monticello and dan a student a the BYU in provo they are all married except dan her par ants are both dead and also a brother there are five sisters who survive her mrs irva tree syra syracuse use utah mrs maud ben natt estt syracuse mrs rhoda bon ham murray mrs ruth rush burai ogden and mrs thelma wilcox Vil cox syracuse there are also seven grandchildren surviving fhe barbers bought a farm east of monticello in 1943 and have lived here continuously since 1946 aha accident was investigated by the moab patrolman mr brown and the moab sheriff also the monticello patrolman mr cooper who brought mr lj bauer home mrs barber was a beautiful woman and was loved and respected by all who knew her |
