Show airport at bluff planned while some 87 communities in utah 64 located in the first congressional district were lifted for development of airport facilities in the national airport program when it was first announced in 1944 some were dropped from the 1948 listing because the civil aeronautics administration plan is predicated on a three year development instead of the ten year as contemplated in the original program this all became known when congressman walter K granger of the first congressional district of utah issued excerpts of a special CAA report outlining the reasons for the changes in the program for utah the report has this to say about the proposed new airport to be known anotn as the bluff airport at bluff it will be of class I 1 with landing strips between 1800 feet and 2700 feet the facilities to 0 be provided will include drainage fencing marking wind direction indicator hangar and perhaps basic lighting facilities the federal government will bear more than 50 of the costs of this airport and the remainders remainder must be provided by local forstate or state sponsors utah will have 31 entirely new airports 24 will be located in the first congressional district and extensive improvements will be made to the 46 existing airports under this present three year development program |
