Show retiring bishopric bisho pric honored saturday by isabelle abelle Ls redd I 1 the ward reunion saturday i evening complimenting the out i going bishopric was indeed lb 11 i high spot in all social activities in recent years I 1 the chapel was beautifully decorated with evergreens ever greens and artificial calla lilies which almost rivaled nature the floor space was entirely filled with small email tables laid with a service forfer corf ur on the stage was oie oe long table labo beautifully spread with lace cloth the centerpiece was carnations in two shades of red with ferns and cila caia lilies emerging from the center were three tall yellow tapers seated at this table were the honored guests members of the stake presidency and their wives mr and mrs A R lyman and mr and mrs B frank reid RE id I 1 corsages were presented to the wives of the honored guests i D B perkins returned thanks lafter after which all were seated to enjoy the bounteous spread j after dinner a well prepared program was presented A musical ical skit memories covering the span of mans life was pictured with W C walton as reader an and appropriate songs under the di I 1 erection of ruth bailey were a fine I 1 contribution the skit was direct I 1 bcd led by ruby bronson barbara I thompson jthompson j read a humorous poem portraying possible events in the ilife life and work of bishop redd also balso another poem entitled the I 1 boys boks by oliver wendell we ndell holmes last but not least was the puppet show in which reta bailey and edith lyman excelled or we may imay say stole the show bishop K S summers made brief remarks in which he complimented the outgoing bi shipric for their outstanding work in this community he presented each member of the bishopric with a book joseph smith the prophet statesman mrs kate hansen accepted a book in memory of her late husband who had so faithfully served in the capacity of f first i r s t counselor bishop L frank redd responded with appreciation for the party and the wonderful spirit which prevailed the party closed with social dancing to the music of thomas evans on the accompanied by his daughter madolyn much credit arc dit is due the heads of all the organizations which cooperated under the management of the relief society to make this party the most outstanding event in years it is to be regretted that bishop and mrs lawrence black were not present due to being in salt lake city mention was made of the very fine works of this couple in the various activities of this ward |
