Show L D S conference well attended by maxine lyman the largest crowd in quite a while attended the conference here in monticello on sunday due to the dedication of the idaho fals falls temple none of the general authorities were in attendance but a wonderful conference was held hed anyway an exceptionally fine and humble spirit was definitely felt during the entire conference ses ision the priesthood meeting at nine was conducted by pres dent karl R lyman and consi stcl of talks by richard holyoak of moab jesse eastin phil hurst david J black and bishop hughes a scout executive they ald about hov the wards and stakes are progressing and how they ae helping the boys A special number was sung by the priesthood quartet from blan blanking ain cr the boys were neson nelson ted ani and reed jones and ramon back B ack they were accompanied by mamie adams who has hg s certainly done a wonderful work in teaching these boys t tv 1 sing together the theme of the mothers and daughters meeting also held at nine 0 clock was guarding principles of today and tomorrow and was very inspirational S esfer ser nene perkins perkin s gave a sh short tort sp speech eab of welcome after which talks on the following subjects were given temple marriage by emma dal da r ton of moab prayer by evvie stevens of la sil honoring the priesthood by leah bartell of lockerby A clean life by afton barton and a resume of it all by charity rowley of blanding the ladies chorus of monticello i cohnn 0 on page five L D S conference Conti continued Dued from rage oage I 1 sang prayer perfect which fitted in beautifully with everything said president leland W redd presided at both sessions of the general conference which as announced noun ced was an priesthood conference it was a thrill to hear the congregation singing oh ye mountains dign as they opened the first session travest johnson presiding elder at lockerby opened the conference with prayer talks were given by priesthood boys mason redd gary lyman and durrant black and by a priesthood age girl lucile shafer of moab the choir beautifully sang lovely appear after which president redd mil milton ton rogers representing all servicemen albert R lyman floyd niel son president of the seventies quorum in blanding and merrill stevens presiding elder at la sal all gave inspirational talks the priesthood quartet sang in the garden to the delight of all present dan perkins dismissed the meeting at noon all visiting people were invited to a luncheon served at the school house cafeteria style and as president redd remarked it was indeed bounteous and delicious the afternoon session began at two with the congregation singing come come ye saints bishop rogers offered the opening prayer the ladies chorus from monticello sang the holy city and it was an inspiration brother frank redd stake clerk conducted the sustaining of all the general authorities of the church and of our own stake after which guy R hurst ray hurst president strong of the dolob stake bishop lance gf cf moab and patriarch mcconkie also of moab were the speakers phil hurst of blanding introduced a new scout executive musical numbers were A prayer sung by the priesthood quartet and crusaders I 1 hymn sung by the choir the closing song faith of our fathers was also sung by the choir and bro doseph B harris offered the benediction president redd has asked that all people concerned with making the a success be given the sincere thanks of the stake presidency |
