Show POSTWAR POST WAR PLANNING we hear much these days about postwar post war plans and about peace terms and the many fine things we may acquire with the money invested in war bonds today having been forced into a war wemusa we must of course see it through and it is well that the american people are living up to their usual reputation of action in time of need t proving again that nothing is impossible when the heart is roused to the point of serving those who are in need on the one hand and when the freedom we enjoy as americans is at stake through the american red cross and other agencies at work to relieve the distress in foreign countries or in in pur our own land when disaster overtakes communities on occasion much good work has been accomplished and fine humanitarian mani service extended patriotic americans have bought millions of dollars worth of war bonds and have also contributed in other ways without a word of protest they will no doubt continue to do so as long as the war lasts but there is another side to the picture which must also be considered and the following item taken from the epic news is something to think about as presented by the editor of this monthly issue 99 it would seem that all our discussions of postwar post war planning boil down to this we have three choices we can try to retire into isolationism and have a large armed force constantly prepared to protect that position we can use that same armed force to try to impose an armed imperialism on the world capitalism militant and temporarily triumphant or we can at least attempt to participate in an international collaboration wherein peace is mutually guaranteed and an ever increasing human interdependence recognized As we sow so shall we reap EH to retire into isolationism wont work nor will the i second choice prove successful nor be possible As sure as comes the sunshine after rain we will reap what we sow are the nations now at war not paying in full measure for the seeds of hatred greed desire for power to rule and the other cawes causes of warfare they have sown which in turn will mark the end of the reign of man as a law unto himself we read somewhere that the leaders of the present day should not be the ones to make ma kethe the peace terms and this comment makes sense because their ideas and plans would undoubtedly be based on a military form of settlement which would only result in another war that is the great danger now and what we must prepare for since neither the leaders nor the masses are ready to forgive their enemies nor would it seem possible to do while the aggressive nations are so brutal in their treatment of prisoners the memory of the horrors of present day warfare and the cruelties cruel ties inflicted on the captives in the invaded coun countries tres are something to be reckoned with therefore would it be impossible to expect anything that would border on mutual agreement as suggested in the third choice it would seem therefore that all three of the suggestions offered will prove to be of little account no matter who might be chosen to make the peace terms our prediction stands as indicated on previous occasions that while a temporary peace must and will be established ere long that may seem to satisfy it will but result in another outbreak before the real end and before a lasting peace can be established while man goes blindly on engaging in modern warfare because there is no other way to down the leaders who are responsible for the wars of this day and generation we can but hope that the sacrifices being made will not be in vain and that the losses will not be too great the time is not yet for the leaders of the future to assert themselves although much can and is being done under cover to pave the way for the lasting peace to follow when god will also take a hand to bring about the end of warfare biblical prophecy points t to 0 o the final battles to be fought in palestine and present indications are that this will come to pass the certainty on the part of some folks that russia will always be an ally is changing to uncertainty in regard to the future while it is true that russia is an important ally at present and that she is playing a major role in defeating germany keep your eyes open and ears tuned in regard to the next step to lie be taken when peace terms are made which will bring to a close the present phase of the war there is also another form of postwar post war planning to be considered and that is how the masses will react if the promises of peace and plenty made now by the powers that be as voiced by commentators are not kept there is plenty of reason for concern over the growing unrest and dissatisfaction expressed by the masses who have received high wages but cannot spend what they earn the postwar post war plans made today may be worthless tomorrow weare we are living in eventful times and it is only speculation as far as the future is concerned when promises are made only to be broken and plans and regulations are changed overnight and the end is not yet |
