Show Club plans U. S. flag give-away Once again this year the Bountiful Bounti-ful Exchange Club will be giving out flags to the children along the Handcart Days Parade route. For the past two years the Exchangites have gone at the head of the parade passing out the flags to the children to wave during the parade. The first year the Club passed out close to 1 ,500 flags and quickly ran out. This past year they gave out almost 4,500 flags and still ran out. This year, thanks to a generous gener-ous contribution by Staker Paving and Construction, the Club will be able to give out over 1 1,000 flags, 11,520 to be exact. Val Staker, the president, is a resident of Bountiful. Many of the company's employees live in Davis County. So the company, whose own colors are red, white and blue, felt it wanted to make sure the Handcart Days Parade was a success. suc-cess. In addition to passing out flags, the Exchange Club participates in many patriotic activities. Each year it honors individuals and organizations orga-nizations flying the flag. It has placed many Freedom Shrines around Davis County, including the City Offices in Bountiful, most, of the high schools, the library and Five Points Mall. It also sponsors a contest for junior high students called cal-led Milestones of Freedom. |
