Show local scouts observe anniversary of the boy scout organization in america banquet held in high school auditorium and special program on tuesday thesda evening in the L A S church the boy scouts their fathers and mothers and a number of invited guests assembled at seven on saturday evening in the monticello high school auditorium to participate in the annual banquet and program which on this occasion marked the anniversary of organization A J redd was master of ceremonies nd his genial spirit added much to the occasion as he introduced trod the speakers and an each musical number number 0 oi i sabe he program several eap exp expected acte guests and ilic he scout county commissioner wre w re unable to be present and it was necessary to call on some of the scout f fathers athers for impromptu responses incident ally the writer was an invited guest and was one of those called on to respond to a n humorous bit of verse presented ly the toastmaster by way of introduction needless Nc edless to say we enjoyed the occasion and appreciated the opportunity port unity to attend the banquet the program opened with assembly singing of god bless america and the invocation offered by bishop L frank redd howard redd offered the toast to scout mothers and mrs noel sitton responded in gracious manner calling attention to the value of the training given to boy scouts and paying tribute to their loaders leaders wilford frost who has as been the devoted leader and companion of the boy scouts responded with a greeting and words of praise for the fine spirit and cooperation of his boys other speakers included ralph A bailey frank halls paul A sieber lynn hyde and the toastmaster who made the address of welcome arch bronson accompanied by mrs bronson led the assembly singing and gave three thre delightful solos mr and mrs bronson also sang a duet 1 er the scout mothers were called i to receive a word of appreciation and the hearty applause of the assembled guests for their part in preparing the good dinner fier served ved this group included mrs wilford frost mrs june pehrson mrs horace allred mrs lynn hyde and mrs lawrence black all of the scout mothers contributed in some way to the food supply and the sisters of the scouts served the table decorations were unique being small twigs plan planted t ed in flower pots with assorted gum drops stuck on the ends all of which formed an attractive centerpiece ter piece and furnished refreshment and fun for the boys and the guests place cards and favors were also clever and pretty aade made with smaller twigs of green ottna r colored gum drops r As a closing number hugh barton recited the committal re ceremony with all present rising and repeating the words after him |
