Show record publisher visits paradox we left our home in the valley early on saturday morning and drove to la sal as is our custom when we make a journey to paradox valley there to meent mr C A snyder who makes the trip over the la in order to save us the hazardous drive of the remaining 25 miles to paradox valley Al drough the road was repaired and some improver improvement nent work has been accomplished since our trip there last fall after the heavy rains made it almost impassable it is still one of the most dangerous passes we know of in this part of the southwest country and each we we wonder what some of our eastern friends would say if they could view the scenery through which we passed on saturday and again on monday morning on the return trip at almost no place is there room for two cars to pass each other although there are spots where one may pull aside to let another car pass it is not alone the narrow road but the many short hairpin hair pin turns turn sill which make it necessary to go slowly and because so many of them overlook deep canyons with very little continued from page tour four RECORD PUBLISHER VISITS PARADOX continued fron first page margin to spare on the outer edge once again however our friend piloted us safely over this mountain pass and again we may relay word about a happy renewal of contact with our friends in paradox although there was occasion for a bit of sadness too of which we will speak in another column as we mention the account of the passing on of one of their well known residents and the funeral services held on sunday morning because of this unexpected happening it was impossible impassible to hold the usual form of meeting we are accustomed to conduct although a small group met in the home of one of our friends on sunday afternoon to discuss these changing times and our mutual beliefs and similarity in living on monday morning we left bright and early for la sal where we spent several hours visiting with the charles and leland redd families and making our usual trade purchases at the la sal livestock co store needless to say we appreciate this friendly cooperation which enables us to receive a goodly food supply whenever we pass through this town on this occasion we also received a generous gift of fine sweet corn and freshly picked string beans when we transferred the two sacks of crab apples and case of honey which mr snyder brought over in his car we had a full car and it was nearly noon when we arrived home and distributed the vegetables and other produce at the various homes within our three mile area so another weekend week end pa passed sed which will long be remembered because of the experiences and friendly contacts along the way and in paradox valley |
