Show utah U t a h national parks council scout S c 0 u t bulletin provo U utah t a h arrangements have been completed for the annual utah state Camp orall to be held at tracy wigwam mill creek canyon butof salt lake city on june commencing at 12 noon and continuing until noon june announces D E ham hammond mond scout executive salt lake council state chairman all patrols will be camped ori on a council basis under the direction of the patrol leader to be A grade their equipment must include uniforms pack frames or haversacks haver sacks shelter sleeping bag scout staff uncooked uncooked foods and materials to make fires without matches lastly their packs when made up must not exceed 25 pounds each scout may take 2 a lunch for the first meal the program will commence at p m with an official opening exercise followed by contests for state re records c in fire by frk friction tion fire by flint and steel string burning six leg ged race pancake cooking centipede rope race during the supper hour an official delegation of church and state officials under the direction of regional executive oscar A kirkham will inspect the camp the campfire program will be held during the hours of eight until nine on wednesday morning demonstrations st will be featured as follows 1 types of shelters beds packs etc 2 types of fires rock stoves etc 3 tin can cookery tin can gadgets 4 underground cooking all A grade patrols from any troop in the cou council cil are eligible to attend they should send reservations to the council office immediately A ten cent registration fee will be charged to each scout the Camp orall award for all who attend will consist of a metal seal of I 1 the utah state to be used on pack frame or scout staff meade lake camp ten miles south of overtop overton nevada opened monday ma may y with over scouts in attendance mede meade lake camp featuring water activities offers splendid training in a scenic wonderland saratoga camp opens june ath at saratoga springs six miles west of lehi this is also a water sports camp featuring swimming lifesaving diving fishing nature study and Campe raft etc reports indicate unusually fine attendance at this camp the camp staff to consist of roy merrill Christo pherson B glen smith dean holden and A A anderson A camp fee of 75 cents includes the use of the swimming pools for the week on june san juan caravan camp begins besides the scenic visits it includes camping near blanding utah visits to the natural bridges and goose necks as well as monument valley lees ferry bridge and the grand canyon S several e v e r a 1 northern utah troops as well as troops from moab blanding and monticello have indicated their intentions of attending this camp announces A A anderson scout executive A special training institute will be held in logan on june 24 and 25 for district commissioners leadership training directors and scoutmasters Scout masters this course is under the direction of oscar A kirkham regional executive charles F smith of the national office new bory city and E 1 L vredenburgh abst director of health and safety los angeles this course is a demonstration play method of advancing scouts from tenderfoot to first class it will be especially interesting and helpful to all trainers A small fee of 2 will include meals and lodging |
