Show building B boom 0 0 in strikes main street district three business blocks to be erected this summer cash grocery cinema and confectionery evidencing their faith in the future of monticello and san juan county ground is being broken by three local businessmen for as many neat business blocks A short time since the vacant lot just north of the hyland cafe was wa s acquired by ralph dailey bailey claude foy and geo M palmer each of whom plans to erect a new building the present summer and fall to house their business it is planned to heat the three blocks with one central heating plant and to dispense with two division walls walk as one wall can just as well divide the premises notwithstanding they will in reality be separate and independent structures each of the projected business houses will have a frontage of 30 feet and the bailey grocery and the palmer confectionery will each have a depth of 50 feet the foy motion picture theater will have a depth feet arid and w will i occupy the central position thus giving a euphonious balanced appearance to the entire structure mr baileys store will be pushed with as much speed as possible and made ready for occupancy at the earliest possible date the two others will proceed more leisurely as they expect to effect certain economies by this method all the buildings will be constructed of cinder brick procured at price utah and will have attractive glass fronts each will be of one story construction this rather pretentious new building will add materially to the appearance of business district and will mark an epoch in the growth and development of the town the estimated cost of the bailey and the palmer buildings will run between 2500 and each the motion picture theatre will pro probably batly cost more than this and may call for the services of an architect to plan it |
