Show co school board demands forfeiture I 1 approves contract of vern aalboe but refuses to clear bowers builders specifications for building stand As advertised objection being made to exercise of opt ons reported by H L hansen clerk monticello utah feb 28 1938 1939 the san juan county school board met in special session today at one p in with the follow ng members pr sen fras ident leland W redd ded geo A hurst jr clement johnson joseph W adams and supt bupt H lloyd hansen mrs nielson was absent mr carl scott of the firm of scott and welch and vernon C aalboe also met with board president leland W redd and supt bupt hansen reported to the board their action in regard to the refusal of the bowers company to sign the contract after they had been formally presented with it and their subsequent action in signing the next low bidder according to the boards in of t the he previous meeting the report was accepted and the board concurred in the committees signing mr vernon aalboe balbos the clerk was thereupon instructed ted to make a demand upon the bowers bonding company to forfeit the sum called for by the bond for failure to execute the contract the board was also presented with a series of proposed reductions which had been agreed to by mr aalboe for their consideration after considering these proposed deductions mr geo A hurst made a motion that none of the deductions be approved at this time and that the school board proceed with the building as outlined in the plans and specifications ficat ions the motion was seconded by mr adams and carried without a dissenting vote the question of making payment by cheque to the contractor by the school board and also by the contractor to the employees was considered and mr hansen wat was instructed to write the government officials and ask permission for all payments to be made by cheque instead of currency as provided in the government requirements the following list of sub con tractors was presented to the board for their approval by mr aalboe the general contractor henry ashton of salt lake city brick minneapolis steel co steel plumbing and heating palmer whitley logan ted miller salt lake city plastering P L larson sheet metal provo lynn laton salt lake city roof D T R company provo prove linoleum curtains after the above list of sub con tractors was considered mr air hurst moved that they be approved and upon being seconded by mr johnson the motion carried without a dissenting vote the matter of having an employment office in san juan county to clear the men for the construction of the high school building was discussed after considering same mr hurst made turn to page sixteen co school board demands forfeiture forfeits e continued from page one a motion that the superintendent write and ascertain if it would be P possible to have ervin palmer manager of the san juan county local welfare act in this respect motion seconded by clement johnson and duly carried on being presented transportation was applied for by heber M carroll of blanding and bill and jack owens of la sal and after considering same the board disapproved the applications cat ions mr murdocks Murd ochs request to attend a conference for industrial education march 11 and 12 was denied the matter of skating in the auditorium was brought to the attention of the board and after considering same it was decided to leave the matter to the local board member mr adams and superintendent and if damage results from skating to eliminate same the proceeds of the auditorium for the fiscal year were presented to th the e board and approved meeting adjourned |
