Show home bome of truth news by marie M ogden director I 1 home again after a five day journey to salt lake city during 4 which time many appointments wore were kept land and business and per agnal affairs attended tended jit to the Ivi ather weis was ideal and the return trip ir ap ay was mad maas ir n rowl fcc time mie 0 on thursday a Y friend with whom we are working out a joint problem remain I 1 n returned with us and will for a 4 week or him ape ila edw that fil in the anik faby be alwa debeh biped af frieh ws W will speak mk mr definitely amter onedo one do ay journey tb 10 one ta roi bur mining interests south of landing JM anding a week of travel ahten his made time pass all too rapidly when there are so many things to be attended to as well the week ahead promises to be another busy one as we pick up the thread of work at this point and in monticello and make another trip or two in the diorec tion of blanding which reminds us that while we were therel ere on friday we met may old time friends and several associates of former days which made us happy since it is pleasant to renew contacts broken for a time especially with those with whom we know we will be working again at some future time in the interim we shall continue to enjoy occasional meeting with them since it is very likely we will make many journeys to this point during the coming weeks there is little news to report concerning affairs in our three mile area because our members are so scattered during this busy season when n work at the farm and in monticello demands attention and takes certain ones from this point who are employed at each place for days at a time the big event of the coming hours will be the hatching out of the little chicks and ere this column goes to print we may be able to give further report concerning them at this writing all is well and a goodly number is expected word from our member who went to denver indicates she is having a busy time and that she misses the quiet of our desert and her associations here it cannot be otherwise since our life is so different from that of the outer world and to live here for even as short a time as she has done convinces one that the peace and quiet here is far more desirable than the hustle and noise of city life summer weather seems to be here at last and the th e days are warm except during the very early hours and by early we mean when most of us begin our daily tasks shortly after the six meditation period it is the established custom as you know and enables us to accomplish much work before the real heat of the day our evenings are again a time of great loveliness as the sun sinks in the west and the rose and purple tints reflect themselves everywhere ery where which reminds us that a so called wonder in the sky occurred during our absence when the sun was encircled by a great luminous corona at midday mid day which we are sorry we missed we must ask mary cameron to describe it f for or you as she did to us as also the glorious sunset that same evening which she declared was the most brilliant one she has lever ever seea seen A marys description follows on tuesday may A D who was working at our end of them the three mile area called my at to a large ring around the sun it was eleven and a beautiful day the ring covered a very wide area and was edged with delicate rainbow tints there was no cloud within the circle and yet we were able to look at the sun with naked eyes truly a wonderful sight that same even ng the sunset colors were the most brilliant I 1 have ever seen and as I 1 watched the glory of the setting sun I 1 saw a wide band of crimson cl cloud oud v vibrating as if it were charged with a strong electrical current then appeared a most beautiful shade of scarlet more vivid in coloring than anything I 1 have ever seen before and that is saying much since our sunsets in this valley are often so unusual that we gaze in wonder as we watch them we have another interesting item to add to our column regarding an unexpected visit on sunday I 1 when two men from texas called to tell telf us about their work in that state R R stanley and T L walker of dallas texas are engaged in raising all sorts of vegetables to replant and they were on their way to salt lake city with a great quantity of them the price is nominal and the experiment peri ment worth trying especially when it is so difficult to raise raise certain types of vegetables from seed in our short season in these higher altitudes we will tell you more later in regard to the progress we make as we plant the tomatoes egg plants sweet potatoes toes cabbages and c cauliflower uli flower they left with us and which will about complete our truck gardens at the seven mile farm and in monticello |
