Show C civic i v i c religious leaders endorse health program enthusiastic meeting M e e t i n g 0 of f prominent citizens results in appointment of strong countywide county wide Com committe mittel e with a vuew to carrying forward the movement to afford san juan county a much needed adequate q u ate health service a number of p people e representing various civic organizations and welfare workers met in the court room of the county court house last monday evening for a roundtable round table discussion of the project stake president J B harris mayor marvin lyman W ervin palmer of the county welfare department mrs D L bayles county nurse merchant galbraith and others were present from blanding showing the interest taken in the undertaking by our southern neighbors ralph bailey chairman of the county board of commissioners was ele elected c ted chairman of the meeting and expressions were heard from ervin palmer who introduced the matter and explained its origin and what had thus far been done from dave evans of the f farm arm administration nurse bayles mayor lyman A J redd of the stake presidency H lloyd hansen representing the educational department et al all appeared enthusiastically to support the movement and were willing to do everything possible to promote and support the undertaking an expression was called by vote of those present aggregating 25 or 30 persons and all voted affirmatively to get behind the undertaking and work for its accomplishment it was moved by A J redd that the chairman appoint a strong countywide county wide committee to assume the leadership in the matter and carry it forward arranging for a meeting with representatives of the district and state health organizations and to do whatever was necessary in the promotion of the movement the motion carried and it was further moved and carried that ralph bailey be made chairman of the committee to be chosen chairman bailey stated that he be would announce the names of the committee later and the meeting was adjourned Vol following x lowing are t the he members of the county health committee as leland W redd la sal geo M palmer K L summers L F redd eva black A J redd dav dave evans E vans and ralph bailey of monticello clement johnson lockerby claude powell bluff J B harris marvin lyman wm R young john rogers Mari margaret maraaret aret perkins hattie R barton dorothy bayles ervin pal pai mer of BI As soon as a meeting can be arranged with the district and state officials the committee members will be notified in the mean time a questionnaire is being drafted an and prepared to be presented to the residents of the county for the purpose of ascertaining t their heir sentiments and attitude toward the project with important data on their recent expenditures for health service all indications point to an early realization of our ambition for an adequate county health department with resident physician and some sort of hospital accommodations for at least maternity cases and minor surgery |
