Show special activities of home v of truth and san juan go co HISTORY OF THE HOME OF TRUTH OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS As we prepare for this our third christmas season and the succeeding weeks of winter we are given to think about the first one and will therefore begin this third installment of our personal remembrances with a recount of those early days of winter As we stated in a previous article we began our mining activities on the mountain top about the middle of december of 1933 and about the same time established the recapture out post jn in the lower and more distant place south of blanding christmas came caime on monday of that year and on the preceding saturday we journeyed to the mountain top with two of our men in a trusty old ford which was about the only car we could depend on to make the steep and snow covered trail to the foot of the mountain even so EO we encountered too much of impassable roadway due to the snow drifts and as we neared the end of our journey we were compelled to leave the car about a mile and a half from the stopping stepping place alone wo vet et out to find the boys who were expected to meet imet us u with a small hand drawn sled which was to carry the supplies and christmas packages which had arrived for those who were on the mountain top we sent them back to the marooned car and journeyed up the trail alone experiencing a new adv adventure which shall ever be remembered as we e made the steep asce ascent A thru the snow covered path in some places and over the frozen creek in others finally reaching the cab cabins ins and our j loved ones who were gathered there f k the men and the two boys arrived some hours later with the supplies and so we settled down for the night and the following day which was to j be our first christmas at that high point j I 1 I 1 our dinner dinn er consisted of the most simple fare although we carried some 61 gift chickens and other luxuries to 10 these folks for future use so we found and left them in order that we might visit the other group at recapture since we had promised to be there in time for a 4 dinner on sunday at that point the return trip was made without interruption and we arrived on time to find another happy group awaiting us after dinner we enjoyed the tree j and social hour which was arranged for by the women who were in charge of that camp and so another pleasant meimi ory lives on the next morning mornin we returned to the faithful ones at this point and completed our three day festivity with grateful love in our hearts for the many expressions of love received at each point of contact and from distant friends al also so with love j and gratitude to our father in hea ya ven and to his hia beloved son whose birthday we had bad celebrated for mind you our first christmas and those since are of very different nature than any we can refer to before that I 1 time and the full significance of the day can only be experienced when one has relinquished the material things of life for the deeper spiritual growth and development however our pathway was far from smooth because of the little id of human beings who were unready to accept the guidance which called upon them to follow that second great commandment to love vach tach other in spite of the deficiencies eich each might have nor was there complete submission to the word of instruction which was recorded as a pattern to follow and so began another form of disloyalty dis loyalty which ended in the separation of the recapture camp from the rest of the organization we prefer to forget the unpleasant ries of those days although it is necessary to mention intention the reason for the separation which forced us to withdraw from this group and to concen continued on page 5 HISTORY OF HOME OF TRUTH continued from page 1 more definitely on the work at this point in our dry valley headquarters during the remaining weeks of the winter period we made a monthly trip to the mountain top under the most adverse travelling conditions again experiencing adventures which were different in the extreme from anything previously lived in this period of life but which helped to PROVE THE TRUTH OF reincarnation that is we re lived experiences perien ces which happened in other life periods else we could not have endured the physical hardships of those journeys and it seemed as if if we were familiar with many of the experiences thru having had then their at some previous time although in this life we have lived a most sheltered and comfortable existence in all ways up to our entry into this western land so the first winter passed and in february of 1931 1934 we were obliged to make another trip across the continent going as far east as buffalo Buff alf and stopping at intervening points in in the middle west the trip started from boise idaho leab to which point we motored with the son of one of our boise friends who was given this opportunity to visit the home folks foks there here it was at this time also that our beloved friend for whom and with I 1 whom we aie now working in such unusual manner decided to move to this his point during a visit with this outstanding family amily the decision was roade made to eoenie in in april and to bring with them another faithful woman the wife of one of the men who carne came with the first group to leave from that point so were plans made and developed which resulted in the decision to corns come in the spring they set forth at the appointed time arriving here during I 1 the early part of april in the last issue you were told of their arrival as outlined by the one who was destined to become the hostess of the community house to be built at the outermost u teril lost point i we shall take up our story again from this point in a future issue |
