Show eight grazing districts formed in state COMMITTEE UNDER TAYLOR ACT SUBDIVIDE RANGES preparatory TO GETTING LAW IN WORKING ORDER responding to a call of F R carpenter director of the taylor grazing act for a meeting of the stock mens mena committee at price yesterday a full delegation from all al over the state was present pre ent in the absence of mr bir carpenter A D ryan called caled the meeting to order and explained its objects he stated that in order to get the act in in working shape at the earliest possible moment it had teen leen decided to district the stats state and name stock men s committees for each district to carry out the plan A map of the state subdivided into eight districts was presented to the meeting fer its ratification or modification as seemed best by the meeting mr ryan explained that the intent was to have each district administered by a committee of 0 seven cattle ind and seven sheep men to be presided over by a chairman appointed by the federal government that as soon as the tentative lines of the different were decided on the map would be sent to washington tor for the approve ap prova of the secretary of the interior chen approved by the secretary tary meetings would be immediately called in the different districts for the election of the committees who will direct the administration after some discussion of lins lines a recess of half nn an hour was taken for the purpose of alawin th the divergent interests to get together and come to an understanding under as to where the lines ot of the different districts should be drawn on bessem bling it was found that two or three minor changes were wera desired from the original drawing of the map district number 6 was extended to comprise the whole of san juan county and practically all of grand county the north line of the district to follow the dividing water shed along the top of the book cliffs approximately the north boundary of grand county san juan county was represented at t the th meeting by floyd W nielson claud L young geo W perkins perking and F W V keller clias chas redd being absent after deriding deciding on district lines reports were heard from the several severa directors of drouth cromb relief who have tile the water development immediately under their charge J E weston wesson for san juan county reported good progress in the completion of water development on all projects ip approved proved in f act act his report showed that san sail juan county was farther along with wih its development program than any other part of the state I 1 J M mcfarlane president of the utah cattle and horse growers association cia tion made a talk urging that speedy action be taken to get the act in working order stressing the fact that every day s delay retarded the rehabilitation of at the ranges and led to x irions in iti its L effect The Thel meeting was very harmonious ag d a everyone present seeming to be anxious to get the law in working wor kint order ei deai ns as quickly as possible |
