Show flou r evela 18 fairy tale B JOTA THE CAT the other day jota the cat was hungry there la Is really no reason why jota should ever feel hungry for lie he gets so much good food nil all the time but anyway he did feel hungry lie ile wanted something in the pantry and the pantry door was closed the dining room door was a kind of door he could push open but the pantry door was one of those horrid doors 1 which had hn to be undone in some mysterious way lie ile had often watched tile family use their hands anil and their fingers in some borne way to turn tile the knob of the door and when they did that the door opened but lie he do it himself anil and now that thai lie he wanted to go into the pantry it was very hard lie ile knew perfectly well there was gill I 1 I 1 now I 1 have I 1 t 11 a saucer in the pantry with some milk ja fa it lie ile knew because he had left it there myself when he had bad found it quite to eat cat anything more now how it hi did wish now that lie he had taken all of ills his milk at dinner time now lit lie get into the pantry it seamed as though everyone ee must be out re ie find anyone to come aud aid ai d open the door tor for bvm and no one TO whom lie he could give ghe it a hint of what lie ho wanted it was especially sad because he knew there was milk in the pantry and it if only the family were homo home lie he would simply have to give little purring sounds and stand near the pantry door ile he went out on the front steps and looked up and down doin the street not a soul was in sight ile he went on the back porch and saw no one in the garden lie he got up on a chair in the dining room and looked out of the window hut but still he see anyone and then he decided that he was stupid that if children and gro grownups w r ps build could coal open a door a clever cat 8 should h 0 be able to do so too then lie he had an ideal yes res jota had a real idea lie ile went into his masters study and upset the wastepaper basket then lie he pushed it into the dining room and along toward the pantry door when he had finished pushing the basket and when it was right up by the door he turned it upside down and climbed upon it there thought jota now I 1 have it and lie had I 1 lie ile opened the door with his two front paws turning the knob until it was undone and he could push tile the door open then h he moved the ba basket ket away and we went nt inside there was th alie e milk in the saucer and jota had a nice drink but the family were so proud when th they ey came home and found what their clever jota had been able to do they told everyone about it and from the way things were they could just see how he lind thought it all out all by ills his sat fat self I 1 |
