a pool of blood by mrs blanche hammond another teacher she at once called principal stewart who administered first aid then ran across to the garage ana claud foy who repaired at once to the school house with his car dr spearman being away dr allen alien was called from moab he at riving here within a couple of hours licurs and dressing the wound which showed that the outer jining of the scalp had bad been cut so that se several veril sti stitches telles were taken in it mrs palmer regained consciousness when taken home but could give no to lucid account of just how she happened to fall evidences evidence s showing shoving that she lad had fallen backwards and had struck the back of her head on a sharp pro ejection of the wall at the foot of the stairs site she rested fairly well on examination at the hospital m ad it known that th atthe the case was a very serious one and her husband J W palmer and son merrit who were in jerome ariz were immediately notified they starting for home the same day it became evident monday dby that the lady could not live and at 5 p in she quietly passed away surrounded by all of her children except merrit palmer w who ho was on his way to the bedside with her husband J W palmer who had been delayed on the road by car trouble the death cast a gloom on the whole of the two counties mrs palmer having been a teacher in the schools of grand and san juan counties for the past eighteen years durling during which time she had been instructress to the children of many of families of the two counties by all of whom she was universally respected and looked up to as one of the most fair minded teachers that it had been the fortune of the school boards to employ the remains were prepared for burial and were brought to the family home in monticello tuesday evening evenin tr they lying in state at the family residence wednesday forenoon where friends called to offer help and corn com fort during the interim before the funeral the funeral services which wert wen held in the auditorium of the school house wednesday afternoon were the roost most comforting and impressive ever held here the spacious room was filled to overflowing with an audience comiTto sed of relatives friends frienda and sorrowing borrowing children who felt that almost a mother had been taken from them the casket was wai banked with floral offerings which overflowed onto the rostrum and tables placed to hold them mayor M A barton fook ibok charge of the ceremony which opened with a touching duet duct by mrs rhae bartoi and arch bronson this was followed hy by prayer by D B perkins and a solo riolo by mrs mark hammond county commissioner carl S barton gave a very comforting talk rb recounting the talents and virtues ol of the departed which vas v as followed by a touching folo bolo by mrs carrol J meador of moab MAN H lloyd hansen superintendent of the san juan school district with whom the deceased had worked for many years was the next speaker lie reviewing the splendid educational work of mrs palmer for many years yearl in the county and ana stating a very appropriate i s truth when lie he said that we were not here to pay our last respects to the departed as her work had been such that the respect she had bad attai attained ned would live or genera eions after the incident of her taking off had been forgotten arch bronson yen
