Show U. OF U. PLANS INSTITUTE III THEATER ARTS Training in all phases of young people's theater will be offered during a special three week institute in-stitute at the University of Utah August 1-20. Students from throughout the United States have signed up to attend the workshop which precedes pre-cedes the 11th annual National Children's Theater conference on the Ute campus August 22-27. Participants in the institute will assist in the preparation and presentation pre-sentation of several plays for the national meeting. In addition they will receive concentrated training in creative theater writing, acting, directing; creative dramatics; dramat-ics; creative designing and staging; stag-ing; publicity and management, and ballet theater. Dr. C. Lowell Lees, director of the University of Utah theater and speech department chairman, will head the young people's theater institute staff. Guest lecturer will be Virginia Lee Comer, author and editor who specializes in creative cre-ative dramatics. University of Utah staff members, mem-bers, William F. Christensen, director di-rector of ballet; Gail Plummer and Vern Adix, manager and technical director of campus theater, round out the list of people who will direct workshop sessions The institute has been planned to help teachers, recreation leaders, lead-ers, directors of community, children's chil-dren's and church theater groups gain further experience in theater arts. |
