Show BUSY S. H. COPS KEEP CRIME. DOWN IN AREA Despite the fact there was no major crime in the Sugar House area during 1953, a glimpse of the annual report of Lieutenant Ray S. Cahoon indicates the cops were far from idle last year. For example, there were a total of 2294 calls to the Sugar House police during the year; there were 1724 traffic complaints. But there we're only 188 arrests, 687 juvenile complaints, and 654 traffic tickets issued. And the ten officers who comprise com-prise the Sugar House detail recovered re-covered 28 stolen automobiles. The police provided 818 escorts, checked 1055 automobiles, licensed 1041 bicycles. There were 141 business places checked by the Sugar House police more than the regular and routine rou-tine checks made every day. The report . of Lt. Cahoon was transmitted to Capt. Fred Lee who in turn assembles the data and compiles it in the annual police report of Chief of Police Clark Sanford. The 1953 report in Sugar House compares very well with previous years, Lt. Cahoon reported, show-i show-i ing no major increases or decreases i in the various types of services offered by his detail. |
