The kitchen or patio (when it's warm enough) is as good as the prairie if the setting is right. Dishes and perhaps table ornaments 4 suggestive of the West will lend atmosphere to this ('western ('west-ern style" meal. What's most important though is the food. Old-timers of real Chuck Wagon days ate such things as sourdough flapjacks with sorghum, beans, bacon and boiled coffee. While our modern-day breakfast may follow fol-low somewhat the same pattern pat-tern it's bound to be better. It's easier too, since today we serve Sour Cream Buttermilk Pancakes made with a delicious, de-licious, quick and easy western west-ern pancake mix, with maple-blended maple-blended syrup from the bottle. The buttermilk used in this modern-day mix assures lighter, light-er, more tender and better-tasting better-tasting pancakes. And so easy to make! Here's how pardner. 5 This modern version calls for Buttermilk Ham Pancakes with plenty of maple-blended syrup, i SUPERB PANCAKES ' j 2 cups pancake and waffle mix 1 cups milk 1 egg, beaten 2 tablespoons cooking oil, or melted melt-ed butler or other shortening Combine all ingredients. "Mix with spoon or egg beater Just until smooth. Bake on hot griddle or in lightly greased skillet, turning once. Do NOT stir batter between bakings. Serve with butler and hot. maple-blended syrup. Makes about 20 four-inch pancakes.
