Show Church Award for God and Country SIX SCOUTS, YOUTH Will COVETED AWARDS The highest award a church can give a Boy Scout was awarded Sunday to six young men of the First Congregational church. The six scouts were Blaine Simons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine M. Simons, 1338 Thornton Ave.; Ken Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andy C. Stewart, 2340 Highland Drive; Kent McCrimmon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McCrimmon Jr., 1935-9th East; Tom Temple, son of Mrs. T. W. Temple, 1559 E. 17th South; Arthur and Cleve Moler, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Moler, 2406 East 21st South. To add to the record, a seventh youth fulfilled all the requirements for receiving a "God and Country" award, but is not a Boy Scout He was presented with a pen and pencil set in recognition of his achievements. He is Jimmy Dick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Dick, 1820 Yale Ave. It was the first prestntation of a "God and Country" award in the church and the largest group in the history of Salt Lake scouting to receive re-ceive the award at one time. Much of the credit of their achievements is due to T. W. Hines, their Sunday school instruc- i tor, who guided them through the project. |
