Show Chamber Chatter By D. James Cannon Executive Secretary and Eastern Utah and the Utah Water Users Ass'n. DID YOU ALL notice how Sugar Sug-ar House can pick 'em? We mean queens, of course. The other day, pictures appeared in the daily papers of a group of lovelies who contest. Two of the gals (and the contest. Two of til gals (and the loveliest there) were: Charlotte Sheffield, Miss Sugar House of 1954, and Elinor Bartlett, Miss Sugar House of 1955. The 1956 contest is drawing near, so spruce up gals ... if you become be-come Miss Sugar House, there'll be no end to your list of accomplishments! THIS IS the season for clean up , paint up, fix up and the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce Com-merce is leading out in the southeast south-east area to brighten up our neighborhoods and community. This week, April 2 to 7, has been "Neighborhood Cleanup Week," with students of Irving Jr. High and Evergreen Jr. High leading out in a cleanup project. As reported re-ported last week, the class in each school which does the best job will win a trophy to be presented pre-sented by the chamber. 'CO WILL BE a big year for Sugar House in other ways too. ihe committees of the chamber are in full swing, and some real improvement projects are already on the way. This week there were four important group meetings held: Operation Home Improvement Improve-ment (Ben Vincent, chairman); Board of Directors (Neal White, president); Special Retail Committee Com-mittee (S. Morgan Sorensen, chairman); and Plans and Zoning Zon-ing (John Clawson, chairman). These 4 meetings are typical of the kind of activity it takes to create a progressive community. SUGAR HOUSE will have a representative in Washington, D. C, at the annual meeting of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce this year. It'll be that well known water and irrigation man, T. W. "Tom" Jensen, who has his office of-fice in Sugar House. Tom is also executive secretary of the Associated As-sociated Civic Clubs of Southern |
