Show timber mi UP IN WEST AREA A 21,000,000 board foot increase in timber from Inter-mountain national na-tional forests has been reported by Regional Forester C. J. Olsen. Olsen said that timber cut during dur-ing the three-month period of July through September this year was nearly 74 million board feet as compared com-pared with 53 million board feet cut for the same period in 1952. i Revenue returns to the United States treasury from the timber cut was $480,120. Value of the timber tim-ber cut for the same three month period in 1952 was $336,006. " Twenty-five per cent of the total net receipts will be returned to the states for use on schools and ! in road programs in the counties where the money was earned, the regional forester said. A total of 686 individual sales was made during the period, principally prin-cipally to sawmill operators, farmers, farm-ers, ranchers, miners and special timber products industries. |
