Show Oldsters Honored By CofC Sugar House business and professional pro-fessional men paid tribute to the living oldsters who helped to build the community and got an eye-full eye-full of a queenly quintet of its 1953 royalty as well Tuesday at a luncheon meeting at Beau Brummel cafe. The chammber of commerce turned out enmasse to honor the pioneer men and women, who, more than 25 years ago, had such a vital part in the building and development of Sugar House. President Vern Mackay presided at the testimonial and had Clarence Clar-ence Rockwood, Ray Free, Steven Richards and Dale Curtis eulogise four of the leading old timers all present at the affair. An especial guest was Dr. Paul Richards, physician and surgeon, who only this week opened the Memorial Medical Center in Sugar House returning to his native community com-munity after a 43-year absence and bringing with him the outstanding out-standing medical development in the south east. Each of the old timers was but-oniered but-oniered by Miss Sugar House of 1953 or one of her attendants, all pretty and fresh and meeting the chamber of commerce membership for the first time. They were George Dixon, J. Roy Free, Horace B. Richards, P. M. Pontz, C. L. Rockwood, Fred Griep, Mrs. Fern Hansen Smoot, Paul Strand, Jack Jacobs, Glenn Tripp, W. B. Richards Jr., Al Hibberd, Allen Pyper, G. Rod Ashlon, Theodore Theo-dore Jorgensen, John Cahoon, Elmer El-mer Sandberg, H. A. Sorensen, Harold Jensen, John A. Burt, Alexander Alex-ander R. Curtis, Elbert R. Curtis and Joseph Fisher. |
