Show Funeral Set Thursday For Mrs. Milne Funeral services for Ann Jarvis Milne, age 107, will be conducted Thursday (today) at 12:30 p.m. in the Murray 9th Ward Chapel. Mrs. Milne died Monday after being in a critical condition for a week following an abdominal operation. op-eration. She would have been 108 years October 27. She was an early day pioneer of the valley coming here in 1857 with her parents who migrated from England. She was a witness to many developments de-velopments in a changing world for she saw the inventions of the automobile, auto-mobile, telephone, movies, airplanes, air-planes, radio, and television in her life time and enjoyed greatly their contribution to life. She enjoyed visitors, parties and participated in them whenever she could. Mrs. Milne lost her eyesight at 75 but undaunted she learned braille and kept up with the times and news by radio. Later at 90 years of age, she underwent an operation which restored her sight. A few years ago she appeared on the Colgate TV Hour in Hollywood Holly-wood making the trip by plane and was chosen the "most beautiful woman over one hundred years of age." A former Sugar House resident, she experienced years of struggles of pioneer life but lived to enjoy the luxuries that are necessities in a modern world and loved them all. She is survived by two of her eight children and numerous grandchildren grand-children and great-grandchildren. Burial will be in St. George. |
