Show Yule Spirit Runs High A true Christmas atmosphere pervades throughout Sugar House, bedecked with garlands of green and veri-colored lights, with holiday holi-day music emanating from well spaced speakers. A giant Christmas tree ornaments orna-ments the Plaza. And Santa Claus -holds forth each late afternoon and evening, listening long and patiently to the pleas of small fry whose goodness has increased tremendously of late. Store and shop windows are a-blaze with beautiful bargains as merchants spread the spirit of the occasion. Throngs of shoppers, ever increasing in-creasing in numbers as the Christ-mastide Christ-mastide approaches, swarm through the Sugar House area, their cars safely parked off-street in convenient con-venient parking lots. Extra police officers augment the regular Sugar House staff of Police Po-lice Lieutenant Ray S. Cahoon during dur-ing the peak traffic hours, slowing slow-ing down motorists and keeping the pedestrians safely in the cross-walks. The business volume, generally, is greater than last year, and the tempo of buying is increasing with the approach of Christmas Eve. Everything from model trains to chic women's clothing, from costume jewelry to sleek new automobiles auto-mobiles are shown to great advantage ad-vantage by enterprising merchants. Indeed, Sugar House and the great southeast of Salt Lake is alive to the opportunity to serve its peoples with good merchandise and fine service, two factors plus low cost, whfch have and are contributing con-tributing largely to the growth and success of the area. |
